Putting the LQ in LGBTQ
Dear reader,
Wishing you a very happy Pride Month! We’re here & queer all year round, but never more so than in these glorious weeks of June (glorious barring the Northeastern heat dome, that is). We’re nearing the end of our Spring ‘24 new releases, and it’s been a month and a half of exciting publicity hits such as:
Where Wolves Don’t Die killing it in the Minneapolis Star Tribune, BookRiot, SLJ’s Teen Librarian Toolbox, Minnesota Public Radio, and Prarie Public Newsroom.
Joyful Song featured in SF Chronicle Datebook
Some first trade reviews for titles coming out this fall: Makers (PW, Kirkus), The Curse of Madame Petrova (PW), The Legend of Tiger and Tailflower (Kirkus), On a Chariot of Fire (PW), and Quill the Forest Keeper (Kirkus, PW, Foreward, BCCB).
Gearing up for next month’s release of Markless by C.G. Malburi, SLJ says: “This fantasy world is full of love, magic, betrayal, and pirates… The romance here burns slowly and will hook readers who enjoy sapphic fantasy.” Keep the Pride Month magic alive in July by preordering this wlw enemies-to-lovers adventure!

Lambda Literary Awards 2024
Federico Erebia (far left), author of Pedro & Daniel, wins Lambda Literary's 2024 Judith Markowitz Prize for Emerging Writers. Here's what the judges had to say about his work:
“Writing for children comes with a moral imperative impossible to ignore: writing inclusively, openly, honestly, and kindly about the realities children experience, including trauma, questions of identity, familial relationships, and more. Erebia’s deeply engaging blend of poetry and prose lovingly and thoughtfully does exactly this, examining experiences as well as neurodiversity, Latine (specifically Mexican) diaspora, and queerness in a way that centers intersectionality and is accessible for readers of all ages. The concerns of Erebia’s writing are echoed in his community engagement in diversifying kidlit in multiple organizations, which is particularly vital in this era of book banning. Writers come from all stages in life, and we are delighted to support Erebia’s second career.”
