Spark Joy with LQ’s Spring Titles

Dear reader,

April was a whirlwind for LQ – we launched our Fall season, welcomed interns onboard, and sent staff members to Kweli, the L.A. Times Book Festival, and the Texas Library Association conference (you can view our video play-by-play of TLA here and here!)

Then we kicked off May with the biggest splash imaginable: Donna Barba Higuera’s Newbery Medal-winning The Last Cuentista, out now in paperback, made #4 on the ultra-competitive New York Times Bestseller List for middle grade paperback

What other exciting things will the month bring? Stay tuned to find out.

14 BOOKS FOR JEWISH AMERICAN HERITAGE MONTH

Everyone wish a very happy pub week to Joyful Song by Lesléa Newman, illustrated by Susan Gal – this gorgeous picture book follows Zachary and his moms through their vibrant, diverse neighborhood to the synagogue for a new baby sister’s naming ceremony.

And then check out our full list of Jewish books published by LQ, including three Sydney Taylor medalists (plus one honoree) and a National Jewish Book Award-winner!

26 BOOKS FOR AAPI HERITAGE MONTH

Happy pub week as well to The Boy from Clearwater: Book 2, a stunning graphic novel written by Yu Pei-Yun, illustrated by Zhou Jian-Xin, and translated by Lin King. This is the second part of an incredible true story that lays bare the tortured and triumphant history of Taiwan – an island claimed and fought over by many countries – through the life story of a man who lived through its most turbulent times.

We also have a wealth of other diverse titles to explore this AAPI heritage month. Check them out here:
