Elatsoe wins Locus Award for Best First Novel
This week Darcie Little Badger was named the winner of the Locus Award for Best First Novel.
Since Elatsoe's publication last fall, it became an instant National Indie Bestseller, received five starred reviews, and was included in numerous “Best of” lists, including TIME's 100 Best Fantasy Books of All Time. Darcie has been named a Publishers Weekly Flying Start and has been featured in NPR, SYFY Wire, Tor.com, and more.
Before her debut even hit bookshelves in 2020, The New York Times spoke to Darcie about creating fantastic Indigenous stories that did not feel historical or outdated. Native voices have gone underrepresented in genre fiction for too long and we are so honored to be amplifying her voice as an Indigenous writer and queer asexual woman in the SFF space.
This fall, her novel A Snake Falls to Earth drops on October 12.
