Dear reader,

It’s back to school season! The last days of summer are quickly slipping away from us. Before the crispness of fall sets in, here are a few delightful summer releases to explore, including the exciting launch of LQ’s ReLit imprint, two new translated picture books—one from Korea and the other from the Netherlands—and a beautifully illustrated picture book biography of the renowned playwright August Wilson. It’s the perfect opportunity to soak up the last bit of sunshine before the school year begins. —Team LQ

Introducing Re-Lit

We’re launching a new imprint called Re-Lit. This exciting project aims to bring back out-of-print gems by diverse creators! The first book in the Re-Lit series is a collection of essays, speeches, and interviews by the legendary Virginia Hamilton. This "liberation literature" explores themes of diversity and empowers young readers.

More books are on the way! Stay tuned for upcoming releases by Jim Grimsley and Laguna Pueblo poet Paula Gunn Allen.

Markless in the mainstream

To celebrate the release of Markless by C.G. Malbury, LQ hosted a contest. Winners received a signed copy of Markless, a bonus chapter, and an exclusive art print by illustrator Andrea Miller. While the contest is over, you can still comment on Instagram to receive a postcard with the print and a link to read the free chapter.
