“Once in a town by the coast . . . lived two apprentice boat makers, who dreamed of sailing across the sea together.” So begins the tale of Minh and Van, apprentices who each bring a unique skill set to boatbuilding. Minh is a perfectionist but never finishes his boats because they aren’t perfect. Van is impulsively creative and constantly moving from one idea to the next, but none of his boats actually float.

When the boys graduate and open their own boatbuilding businesses, these traits are amplified, and neither can find success despite their undeniable talents. As the years pass, Minh and Van flounder in frustration, unable to translate their passion and vision for boats into anything tangible. Until one day, the two realize that their strengths are complementary, and by working together, they will overcome the limitations that have held them back for so long.
